A Day in the Life of a Tel Aviv Woman

As fun as mass emails can be, I decided to start this blog with the hopes of writing on a more regular basis. I welcome your comments so feel free to write often.

My New Years Resolution

While many people vow to go to the gym more (I think I already have that one covered), or eat less chocolate (not a chance), my New Years resolution is to write regularly in this blog. I am pleasantly surprised by how many people do read this blog, even if they don't comment, and I know that the more I write, the more people will read. Now don't expect daily entries, but I would venture to say that if you checked it every week or two, you will have something new to read. I do not promise that they will all be nail-biting page turners, but I am happy to share my daily encounters with the freaks, the geeks and all of the other eclectic people that live in Tel Aviv.
One quick anecdote on that note: last night was the 7th night of Chanukah. Every night the Chabad Orthodox Jews (a certain sect of Orthodox Judaism that is known for giving Jews the outlet and support to become more observant) light a large chanukiah (menorah used for Chanukah that has space for 9 candles) in Dizengoff Square. During any other time of the year, this area is where the "alternative" youth hang out, sporting their latest Mohawks, neon pink hair and numerous piercings. Last night as I was walking through the square I saw and heard the Chabad Jews lighting the candles, singing and dancing in one circle and the "regulars" dancing in their own...of course they were dancing around a bottle of vodka. And who says Jews can't live in coexistence....
