A Day in the Life of a Tel Aviv Woman

As fun as mass emails can be, I decided to start this blog with the hopes of writing on a more regular basis. I welcome your comments so feel free to write often.

My Horrible Wife

After traveling through Northern and Central Vietnam, we arrived at the beach town of Mui Ne for a short watter-dipping, beach-lounging, book-reading change of pace.

On the evening of June 3rd we discussed the option of another pace change- spending the three weeks we have in Cambodia doing some volunteer work. Since Leora has a contact in Phnom Penh through her brother, she went to the Internet cafe to send a short email while I waited in the room. When Leora returned 10 minutes later, something was different. Her face was red and she was shamefully stuttering trying to catch her breath and explain to me something I suspected for the last 2 weeks.

My horrible wife, forgot my birthday!

Shocking, I know. Especially because this is the second year in a row. There are many things one can say about this, but I will just stick to the practical. I now have the privilege of forgetting any important date in our lives and for a short while, was able to call Leora "my horrible wife."

At this point I would like to thank Larry and Martha for sending their happy birthday email a day early to Leora and not to me. It would have been even more embarrassing had Leora realized a week later in one of those "guess my age" discussions that travelers always have.

On the up-side, Leora's recovery was amazing. After recovering from the shock, using her Personal Assistant skills, she managed to arrange an amazing birthday.

Later that night we went out dancing with our Vietnamese guesthouse owner/partyer extraordinaire Dieu and a fellow traveler Michal. The next day we woke up and took our scooters to the market to buy supplies for the birthday meal that Dieu offered to make. After a few hours at the beach and a very relaxing massage we had the best Vietnamese food I have had yet in Vietnam and then another evening of dancing and drinking.

33 will be a well remembered birthday for years to come; thanks to my "horrible" wife.
