As fun as mass emails can be, I decided to start this blog with the hopes of writing on a more regular basis. I welcome your comments so feel free to write often.

Foxnews.com Part 2: Not Balanced Journalism

Check out http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,204218,00.html for the Fox News story. (If you can’t see it on your screen, temporarily allow pop ups and it should appear). As I feared, I am a little regretful that I gave my response, not because they twisted it around, but because the story as a whole is not balanced journalism in my opinion. Here is the response that I wrote to the editor today:

Thank you for sending me the article. Please permit me to be candid with you for a moment.
While I agree that you have put in perspectives from both sides of the story, I do not think that the article is entirely balanced. In my opinion, this article makes is look like Americans in Lebanon are scared and want to leave, whereas those in Israel are calm and don't. First of all, both Americans who were interviewed have made aliyah and are not in Israel on a study abroad trip or vacation. Secondly, neither lives in the cities where the rockets hit. I think it would have been a more balanced article, had you found someone that lived in Haifa or Nahariya or someone who is fearful and scared. There is no shortage of those in this country right now.

Sincerely,
Leora

This is an article that a colleague sent to me, which I think is extremely accurate about a Tel Aviv perspective. Israelis will sit in bomb shelters forever to oust Hezbollah.
